Whose Real is Real – Navigating Multiple Realities in Relationship

A Process Work Approach to Conflict Facilitation

Have you ever noticed that anyone driving faster than you is an idiot or anyone driving slower than you is an asshole?
George Carlin (American comedian)

Whether we are talking about which political party is screwing up the country, who acted like the oppressor during a recent argument, or whether this hot dry day is beautiful or devastating, the notion of truth, depends on one’s role, position or reference point. Relationship conflict persists when each person stays stuck in their version of reality and is unable or unwilling to truly understand the other’s position.

In this class, I’ll introduce some basic process-oriented skills and attitudes for facilitating conflict. We will study escalation and de-escalation strategies and learn the value of both. We will discover how working with accusations and clarifying roles can reduce polarization.

The class will be useful for anyone interested in learning more about how to navigate conflict in their own relationships, as well as for facilitators, mediators, therapists and coaches looking to support clients who are stuck in frustrating and painful conflict dynamics.

For students of Process Work this class will deepen your skills in working with own conflict.
